When John Jacobs Speaks, It's Always Worth Listening (Viewed: 17939)
Posted by on April 30, 2012 @ 8:00 pm

Golf Digest just posted a wonderful interview with the legendary John Jacobs. I had the opportunity years ago to induct him into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame and he was one of the most genuinely humorous people I've ever been around.

This one is worth a read...

Two Must Read Articles for Teachers (Viewed: 5359)

In case, you didn't run across this recent article about coaching in The New Yorker or this detailed post on www.sportsscientists.com on a variety of coaching related topics, you MUST read both. Two of the most interesting reads I've seen in a long time on teaching/coaching related issues.

Kevin Burdick, VP of Social Media with our good friends at Square It Up has a very interesting blog post this week about using klout.com to measure the effectiveness of your social media efforts.

It's definitely worth a read and it's worth checking out Klout if you are using any types of social media to help drive your business.

Who Takes Golf Lessons? (Viewed: 4870)
Posted by on February 17, 2012 @ 3:00 pm

Well we know that most golfers don't take formal instruction, in fact one survey found that roughly 50% of all golfers have never taken a formal lesson, but that still leaves a lot of people looking for help with their games.

The National Golf Foundation (NGF) has found that 26% of Core Golfers, or about 3.8 million golfers in the United States seek instruction each year with 82% of these golfers wanting private lessons. The survey also found that about 4% of Core Golfers have attended a golf school of at least two days in length.

If you are trying to identify the ideal candidate golfer who is most likely to be seeking out instruction the demographics favor a 50-year-old female with household income over $150,000, who plays more than 50 times a year and is a member of a private club.

There was also a strong correlation between lesson taking and training aid purchases. Over half of those (52%) who purchased a training aid in the past year also took golf instruction versus just 18% of Core Golfers who purchased a training aid.

Posted by on February 15, 2012 @ 3:49 pm

The World Scientific Congress of Golf has been around for about 20 years now and is the only worldwide organization dedicated solely to shedding light on golf-related science-based research.

Their sixth congress is going to be held March 12-16, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ and the list of speakers includes Fred Shoemaker, Dr. Bob Christina, Brian Manzella, Dr. Paul Schempp, Phil Cheetham and many more. Golf industry veterans from around the globe will attend and GBN member Dr. Debbie Crews is managing the event and everything she is involved in is always first rate. If you enjoy data, this is the place to be.

Check out the website at www.golfscience.org for complete information.
